In accordance with the new government directives dated March 16, 2020, the municipality (as well as other local authorities) and the public sector, will be working on an emergency footing starting Wednesday, March 18, 2020. There will be a significant reduction in manpower, leaving only essential workers in the municipality - sanitation, welfare, infrastructure, security, municipal Call Center and educational psychological services and absorption.
The municipal call center 106 has been expanded to respond to all residents’ enquiries, and it will now act also as an emergency center.
The call center 106 is open 24 hours a day and can respond to a range of issues beyond the usual; such as welfare, the educational psychological service and absorption.

Cleaning, garbage disposal and removal of tree cuttings (gezem) will be carried out as usual according to the schedule posted on the municipality’s website.
Municipal inspections will be conducted around the city, and they will enforce the directives regarding the removal of cuttings that are not in line with the directives as published on the municipal website
The municipality is now taking a series of enforcement measures aimed at preventing the spread of the Corona virus in the city.
Municipal policing, with the help of municipal supervision, will be enforced, inter alia, by proactive inspection of parks, sports fields and city businesses, to ensure that the Ministry of Health guidelines strictly prohibiting the gathering of more than 10 people are adhered to.
This means that in the parks, if there is a gathering, you will not be allowed to stay. There will no gatherings allowed in the parks, or at sports fields. These places will not be lit in the evening, so as not to encourage any prohibited grouping of people.
As far as business supervision is concerned, the municipality will make inspections of various shopping centers and of Einav center.
Businesses with more than 10 staff on the premises will stay closed.
The municipality emphasizes that it is advisable to order take away food if required, or home deliveries, to avoid unnecessary gatherings.
The municipality is also focusing on various enforcement and prevention activities in the Avnei Chen neighborhood, where a number of infections of the Corona virus have been discovered in recent days.
Disinfection procedures of public places in the neighborhood were undertaken by the municipal Security and Emergency Services and the city’s fire station.
The neighborhood’s synagogues will be open for prayers only from Erev Shabbat until Motsa’i Shabbat, according to the directives prohibiting the gathering of more than ten people, and participants are to keep at a distance of 2 meters from each other. Any synagogue that does not operate according to these conditions will be closed, according to the municipality's agreement with Rabbi Eliyahu Elharar. Synagogues in other neighborhoods of the city will operate as usual, but are required to follow the guidelines strictly at all times.
Mayor Haim Bibas: "The public sector has moved to an emergency mode and we are acting in alignment with these situations, as essential services continue to work for the benefit of the residents.
The municipal call center has also been significantly expanded to assist residents from various parts of the population who need us at this time, and they will receive a quality response. This is not an easy time - where mutual trust and acting according to the guidelines are needed - but these are the keys to eradicating the virus, and I urge all residents to act responsibly”
