06/05/2020 י"ב אייר תש"פ

According to the government's decision, starting Sunday, 3.5.20, pupils in grades 1-3, 11th and 12th and special education students will return to school. Kindergartens (including chativat tzeirya (chatatz) will start preparing to re-open on 10.5.20.

At a government hearing on Friday, 1.5.20, it was decided to partially resume the education system's activities, adhering to all sanitary conditions set by the Ministry of Health.

Please note that return to school is not mandatory. Parents who do not wish to send their children to school are not required to do so and will not be counted as absent.

The Israeli education system is facing a long and ongoing challenge in how to continue to operate in the shadow of the Corona virus, with the main tasks at stake being continued online learning in the near future, physical return to the various educational frameworks, and preparing for the next school year.

The return process is a staggered process - in the first phase, resumption of general and special education institutions. For Modiin Maccabim Reut, this includes special education schools Gvanim and Pesifas as well as the special education kindergartens. In addition, special education centers for special education students from the regular schools will be run in the first phase.

On Sunday, 3 May, grades 1-3 in elementary schools and 11th -12th grade in high schools are expected to return.

Schools
According to the Ministry of Education, 1st -3rd grades will study in the school buildings and 4-6th graders will study remotely. The aim is to split each grade into two, with school staff (except staff members not permitted to attend due to age or health restrictions) coming to school to teach first through third graders. 4th grade through 10th grade students will learn from home (online learning).

11th - 12th graders will be given a reinforcement and preparation system for the matriculation exams to integrate distance education and physical learning in small groups according to the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education guidelines.

Please note: At this time, there is no after school daycare (tzaharon) for kindergartens or schools.

Kindergartens
As mentioned earlier, the date for the return of preschool children to educational institutions is set for 10.5.20, subject to discussion and approval of the Ministry of Education.
Potentially each kindergarten will be divided into groups and which will attend on alternate days, while the remaining children will stay at home and participate in a distance learning program.

Compulsory kindergarten (Gan Chova) and Gan Chova students in Chatats (חת"צ) classes in elementary schools will study according to formats set by their schools.

Safety frameworks for study
All staff in educational institutions will be required to have all the necessary protective resources - gloves, masks and disinfectants. Pupils will be scattered throughout the school to maximize separation. Pupils and staff will be required to come to school protected, according to instructions to the general public (masks, etc.). Students will not be required to wear a mask in classrooms, but will be on breaks. Children in kindergartens will not be required to wear masks since children up to the age of six are not required to wear one according to the guidelines.

At this time, there is no decision to restart student transportation.

Cleanliness and security in educational institutions
Prior to re-opening, educational institutions are being cleaned and disinfected for the return of students according to the Health Ministry Guidelines. The cleaning and disinfection of schools is carried out by a cleaning company, and the kindergartens by the assistants.
