Following new government guidelines on restrictions, it was decided to allow seating outside restaurants and cafes in the public space at no additional cost.
Following the new government directives that came into effect on Monday 6.7.20, which limit gatherings in closed buildings, Mayor Haim Bibas decided to provide significant relief for local business owners of restaurants, cafes and bars.
According to this initiative, restaurant owners, cafes and bars will be able to expand the seating area to diners and patrons who are seated in the open air outside the business, and these business owners will not be charged additional fees from the municipality for expanding the seating area.
This applies to all the restaurants, cafes and bars in the commercial centers, the shopping center, the Einav center, the mall and all the shopping areas of the city, and in fact allows the business owner to expand the outdoor seating areas, provided that they comply with the “purple tag” character guidelines and the new restrictions.
We emphasize that business owners who expand the seating areas outside should do so without interference to pedestrian traffic, with emphasis on maintaining the safety of passers-by and preventing crowds. This will be enforced by municipal inspectors to ensure that this does not create public space hazards.
