Hundreds of sheep in the city, to help prevent fir

09/05/2024, א' אייר תשפ"ד
As in every year in this period before the summer, a flock of sheep arrived in Modi'in Maccabim Reut. The herd of about 400 sheep will graze on the grass that grows around the city, creating a natural buffer and lowering the height and density of the grass, thus contributing to the prevention of forest fires.

The sheep's route begins on Friday 10.5.24 at the Children's Forest Park, a wooded area in Reut. After that, the herd will continue to the area of the old football field, the wadi and surrounds of Maccabim, Givat HaBroshim, the area of the municipal warehouses and the forest adjacent to the north of Maccabim and from there to Givat Hatitura which ends the grazing route

Dr. Ofer Einav, the municipal veterinarian, emphasizes that the sheep are vaccinated with all the required vaccines and with veterinary approvals from the Ministry of Agriculture. Residents are asked to show patience and understanding regarding the grazing. For questions and inquiries, you can contact KKL, the municipal veterinary service or the municipal call center at 106.
