The municipality, together with Israel Railways and Ofek Management, announced a significant change in parking arrangements for Israel Railways passengers, in the parking lot next to Modi'in Central railway station, on Lev Ha'ir Street across from Azrieli Mall.
Starting Sunday, August 24, train passengers can park there free of charge, as part of a new arrangement designed to improve service to residents, strengthen the use of public transportation, and reduce congestion on nearby roads and parking lots.
Railway passengers alighting at Modi’in Mercaz Railway station will be able to register their car parking digitally at the stands set up in the station, and leave the parking lot free of charge from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Those who are not traveling by train and park in the parking lot will be required to pay a daily fee of 70 shekels.
As a reminder, until now the parking lot, which was jointly run by Israel Railways and Modi'in Municipality, was used by the general public, without distinction. Many residents who intended to board a train repeatedly encountered difficulty finding a free space, especially in the morning hours.
Following numerous complaints that accumulated, and in cooperation between the municipality and Israel Railways, it was decided to regulate the use of the parking lot so that clear priority would be given to those who actually travel by train.
According to the new arrangement, train users at Modi'in Central Station, after passing through the train's ticketing station, will be able to register at one of 10 digital screen stations installed on the lobby level and between the platforms, which display a QR code for scanning. To arrange the free daily parking, the QR code must be scanned on the mobile device, which takes you to a landing page for registering details of the vehicle number and phone number in a convenient and simple way. At the end of the registration, an SMS message will be received confirming that the registration process has been completed.
It is important to remember : Registration for parking must be done for each journey. You must register again each time you travel.
This means that leaving the parking lot free of charge will be possible on that day only, and the gates will open automatically for registered vehicles.
