Public order and security in the city center

Modi'in Police together with the municipality are increasing enforcement on weekends in the city center boulevard (Ma’ar). Increased presence and maintaining public order at events and activities for youth is a top priority, to ensure a safe and pleasant environment.

The Municipality of Modi'in Maccabim Re'ut and the Modi'in Police announced that they will work together to strengthen the sense of security of city residents, especially on weekend activities in the city center.

According to the plan, there will be an increased deployment of policing and security forces in the Ma’ar, including the municipal police, Modi’in station police, traffic volunteers, urban security patrols, the motorcycle patrol, the community security department and the parents’ patrol.

The purpose of the activity is to demonstrate presence, prevent violence, maintain public order and protect youth. Among other things, there wil be increased enforcement of traffic violations involving scooters and electric bicycles, prevention of drinking of alcohol in public spaces, and dealing with fights and risky behaviors.

The combined activity is planned to ensure that the Ma’ar area remains a safe, open and pleasant recreational space for the general public, especially girls and youth, who come to spend time in the city center on weekends.

As is known, as part of the municipality's activity to create positive activities for youth, the ma.com complex will be operating this Friday, a unique nighttime project established by the municipality's Community Safety Department, in collaboration with other educational and community entities. The complex offers young men and women a protected, non-judgmental space with game tables, PlayStation, discussion workshops, seating areas and more.

The activity takes place between 21:00 and 01:00, next to the Gray Club. Due to activity at the site, the section of the street between "Pasta Basta" and "Super Alma" will be blocked to vehicle traffic, in favor of creating a small, safe and protected pedestrian street for youth.

The complex is staffed by professional staff, therapists, instructors and community representatives, who provide emotional support, listening, and a positive educational space. Admission is free and without charge.

As a reminder, at the end of last week (9.1.26) a violent fight took place in the city center, involving teenagers who consumed alcohol and breached public order. One of the teenagers even attacked a city inspector, causing serious injuries to his face, and he underwent medical treatment. The teenager was arrested, taken for questioning, and a serious indictment was filed against him, all in a swift and determined police process.

The municipality noted that there is a complete set of educational and informational programs in schools on the topic of preventing violence, drugs, and alcohol, in cooperation with the Education and Community Security Administration. Last month, "Violence Awareness Month" was held, with activities at eye level for the city's students.

In addition, ongoing cooperation is underway with parent and community leaders in schools, encouraging parents to take an active part and show involvement in their children's entertainment, as part of a broader fight against risky behaviors.

The municipality added that a safe city is not just a matter of enforcement, but of creating positive spaces for youth. Increasing presence in the field, responding to violent incidents, investing in places like ma.com – together create an envelope of security, belonging, and caring. They called on parents to take part, talk to youth, and be partners in building a safer, more connected, and inclusive community.
