Municipal Whatsapp channels replace groups

The municipality has launched two new channels on WhatsApp.
The new channel for senior citizens: on this channel, you can receive important updates directly to your mobile phone about shows and concerts, classes, workshops and activities, organized trips and sightseeing days, special events for senior citizens and, of course, current information on programs, benefits and activity schedules. These designated channels maintain your privacy, with no name or phone number being shown and without dialogue or comments.

The municipality continues to upgrade its communication platforms for residents, with an emphasis on moving to WhatsApp channels focused on areas of interest. These dedicated channels for senior citizens and for the Tsivoni Center in the community department were launched a few days ago.

On the Tsivoni Center community channel, you can receive updates on all the activities, workshops and events that the center operates, as well as activities taking place in the Maccabim Community Forest in collaboration with KKL-JNF.

The advantage of the WhatsApp channels is that they are one-way, meaning that residents receive messages only from the municipality without the option to respond.

In addition, and most importantly, there is maximum protection of privacy in that the details of participants are not disclosed to the others.

The Senior Citizens Department notes that the existing municipal WhatsApp group for senior citizens will remain active at this stage to facilitate the change and transition, with the expectation that the group, which has approximately 2,000 senior citizens as members, will easily move to the new channel.

This channel joins other channels launched by the municipality.

The Culture Channel contains updates on all activities and events taking place in the city. Last September, the municipal emergency channel was launched, which will gradually replace the 14 emergency groups in Hebrew and English. The clear advantage of the new emergency channel solves the issue of speed, as the new channels can hold an unlimited number of residents, who will receive important updates at that critical time, confidentially (names of other members are not visible) accessible , and with only targeted messages in real time.

The municipality emphasizes that each channel has a bell icon at the top of your screen that must be turned on in order to receive messages. Messages are saved and accessible for viewing, and you can scroll back and see previous updates.
