An innovative software project created by students of Ironi Alef high school has qualified for the final stage in the Ministry of Education’s “Start Up” national entrepreneurship competition.

The project, presented by students of the school's software engineering major, seeks to provide a solution to the gap between listening in class and the need to copy from the board. The students showed creative thinking and an entrepreneurial spirit.

Students Sharon Sasson, Lior Gopstein, Ofer Klaus, Itay Luria and Ari Horvitz, accompanied and guided by Vered Rodrik, presented an innovative technological initiative that seeks to provide a solution to the daily challenge in the classroom - the gap between listening and understanding, and the need to constantly copy from the board. The system they built records the teacher's board throughout the lesson, converts the writing into a digital text file and identifies changes in real time, thus allowing the students to concentrate on learning itself.

During the competition, the students built a prototype, which they tested in pilot tests at school, and received positive and meaningful feedback from students and teachers. The students demonstrated creative thinking, high technological ability and an inspiring entrepreneurial spirit, and most importantly, they gained practical experience in the development processes, testing the programming and presenting the project to professionals.

The project reflects the connection between technological innovation and a real educational need and illustrates how young students can lead significant change in learning.
