78th Independence Day events

16/04/2026 כ"ט ניסן תשפ"ו

The city's 78th Independence Day events will be held in a community format in several locations throughout the city, with performances, activities and limited events held in neighborhoods, in accordance with the defense policy and Home Front Command guidelines, after the cancelation of large-scale events planned to take place in Emek HaHula Amphitheater and Anabe Park.

Mayor Haim Bibas noted that "In light of the fragile security situation and the complex reality we find ourselves in, and in accordance with the Home Front Command's limitations, we have made the difficult decision, after consultations with professional and security officials, not to hold the large-scale Independence Day performances this year. Alongside this, I have instructed that there will be community alternatives: smaller, safer events distributed throughout the city, which will allow residents to celebrate the holiday together. We will continue to adapt to the changing reality, out of responsibility for the safety of residents and out of a desire to maintain the spirit of the holiday and community connection."

Due to the limitations and the need to avoid mass gatherings, it was decided to postpone the main event that was planned to take place in the city, where, among others, Ivri Lider and Ninet Tayeb would have performed. The event will be postponed until later this year, when it will be possible to hold a large-scale performance safely and with the participation of a large audience.

Rami Kleinstein will perform at the ampitheater of Ironi Hey high school in the Avnei Chen neighborhood (Avnei Hoshen 55) at 20:45.

Moshe Kursia will perform during the evening at Ulpanat Orot Modi'in Amphitheater (Nahal Tzalmon 21) starting at 21:15.

A performance for youth by rapper Liad Meir will take place at the GRAY club (Dam HaMaccabim 69) with youth bands from the Jack Club starting at 20:00.

The municipality noted that admission to these performances will be by pre-registration only, as the number of places is limited, in accordance with the guidelines. Registration will open on the municipality's website on Sunday, 19.4.26 at 14:00.

Alongside these performances, happenings for children and families from 22:30-22:30:

Israeli Carnival on Chaim Weizmann Boulevard (Moreshet neighborhood) with inflatables, performers and activity booths.

Israeliada in Yatir Forest Park (Nofim neighborhood) with performers, inflatables and activity booths.

"Cloud on a Stick" show at Emek HaEla Amphitheater (Kramim neighborhood)

Instead of the traditional event on Giv'at HaBroshim, a community sing-along will take place at 20:00 at the Lev Re'ut Center, Reut, in an intimate atmosphere.

In the city center (Maar), musical ensembles will perform throughout the evening, creating a festive atmosphere in the public space, alongside a Hebrew party in Renanim Center in Maccabim with DJs.

The show planned for Anabe Park, with the participation of local youth bands and Orna and Moshe Detz, will be postponed to Jerusalem Day (14.5.26) when conditions permit.

The city emphasizes that all events will take place in accordance with the defense policy and the Home Front Command's guidelines, and that they are subject to changes according to developments in the security situation. The municipality will continue to work to enable residents to celebrate Independence Day this year in an adapted, safe and respectful way, while maintaining the spirit of the holiday and community connection.
