Education and Security staff took part in a recent exercise at Ironi Bet high school, to practice absorption of populations evacuated from another city as part of diverse emergency scenarios for which the municipality is preparing. The exercise was led by the Security and Emergency Administration together with school education and administrative teams, the Educational Institutions Security Department, the Ministry of the Interior and other entities.
As part of the municipality's preparations for various emergency scenarios, various exercises and training are carried out regularly to maintain the highest level of competence and readiness.
One of these exercises is the opening of a reception facility, which was recently held under the leadership of the Security and Emergency Administration in the municipality. The reception facility is used in times of emergency to absorb a population evacuated from other cities, following damage to their homes.
The exercise took place at Ironi Bet High School which will serve as such a facility in an emergency, along with 16 other schools throughout the city. During the exercise, the school staff practiced absorbing an evacuated population and providing a response to its various immediate needs, according to different scenarios of the nature of the population and the composition of its families.
Before the exercise, the director of the emergency department, Ofer Zakai, held coordination meetings and training sessions for the educational staff.
The educational institutions security department, the entire educational staff and the school's administrative staff, a representative of the Ministry of the Interior, security coordinators from other schools and school principals took part in the exercise. At the end of the exercise, a summary was made and lessons learned were drawn for the continued maintenance of preparedness that is maintained throughout the year.
