The Sparks Festival returns on Hol Hamoed Succot, September 29 - October 1
In honor of the 30th anniversary celebrations of the founding of the city of Modi'in, the Sparks Festival returns on Hol Hamoed Succot and takes place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, September 29–October 1, bringing an especially large celebration of light, movement, music and street art.
The festival will spread out along Dam Hamaccabim with a series of stages so that every few steps the audience will have a different experience: walls that become stages, dancers in the air, fire and laser shows, circus, live music, acrobatics, light parades and more.
Mayor Haim Bibas: "The Sparks Festival is one of Modi'in Maccabim Re'ut's unique and colorful cultural events, and this year it takes on special significance as part of the city's 30th anniversary celebrations. For three evenings, Dam HaMaccabim Boulevard will become a space of light, music, dance, circus and art, bringing a great experience for the whole family. I invite the city's residents to come, enjoy and celebrate 30 years of the city with us in the happiest, most creative and illuminated way possible."
One of the most prominent focal points this year will be the visual tribute "30 for Modi'in", which will play throughout the evening and connect with the celebrations of three decades of the city.
"Dancing on the Wall" - a vertical dance performance that blurs the line between wall and floor and turns the building itself into part of the performance - will be presented on the wall of the Hasmonean Heritage Museum. Alongside this, "Thirty of Light and Fire", which will connect ancient Modi'in with the city of today through fire, light, laser beams and movement.
Those looking for rhythm will find it at “Pulse Tribal” where live drumming, African dance and contemporary beats meet on one stage. Families will be treated to members of the Pausa Circus, with a show of acrobatics, humor and magic, and the show by Matan the Great, with small bicycles, giant bubbles and clowns.
Additional stages take the audience to worlds of dreams and imagination with "Daydreams" and acrobatic shows that move between light, movement and fantasy.
One of the highlights of the evening is expected to be "Kolo Or", an award-winning international show that combines live music, circus and advanced technology. Alongside these shows, "Dream of a Complex" is an immersive space where the audience becomes part of the experience.
Local talents will also be given a central place. "Local Rock" will feature young musicians from the city, and at 20:00 the Light Procession begins with the participation of local dance groups. Live performances will move through the festival, so that even the path from stage to stage will be part of the event.
The magic of "Sparks Festival" is that the city itself becomes a stage: the museum, the buildings, the intersections, the fountain and Dam HaMaccabim Blved come together for one big evening of light, sound and movement.
