Increased preparations for Yom Kippur: checkpoints to be placed at the entrances to the city, and an increase in security at synagogues. The municipal hotline will be open.

It is not permitted to put garden waste or junk out on the roads on the eve of the holiday.

Modi'in Maccabim Re'ut Municipality is completing its preparations for Yom Kippur, with an emphasis on increasing security throughout the city and around synagogues. Under the direction of Mayor Haim Bibas, the municipality will prepare with increased security, including placing checkpoints at the entrances to the city at the start of the fast, in order to reduce vehicle traffic and maintain the safety of residents during the day.

In addition, the 106 municipal hotline and the Security Command will operate continuously during the holiday and will respond to reports and incidents as needed.

In addition, patrols, municipal policing, and municipal security forces will be increased throughout the city, with an emphasis on synagogue areas, prayer centers, and areas where a large presence of residents is expected.
On the eve of Rosh Hashanah, a meeting was held between the mayor, the deputy director general of the municipality, and the head of the Security, Accessibility, and Emergency Administration, Shmulik Cohen, and synagogue heads in the city.

The meeting opened with the mayor thanking them for the important community activities they carry out throughout the year, especially during the Tishrei holidays, when many residents attend synagogues.

The head of the Security Administration, Shmulik Cohen, then presented the main points of security preparedness and for protocol at synagogues during the holidays and Yom Kippur. Among other things, the need to ensure that a representative from the community carrying a licensed weapon is present at the entrance to the synagogue during prayers was emphasized, as well as to keep a telephone available and charged in the synagogue for contact with the security forces and emergency centers in case of need.

Synagogue wardens were also asked to ensure that community officials know how to act in the event of an emergency. It was also recommended that an emergency manager be appointed in advance in each synagogue, who would be familiar with the exact address of the place, the location of the protected area, the means of access to rescue forces and the relevant emergency numbers, and would be able to coordinate the handling of an unusual event.

The need to be vigilant for suspicious people, objects or vehicles in the vicinity of synagogues was also emphasized, to avoid leaving equipment unattended and to immediately report any unusual event to the security hotlines. The municipality also stated that the municipal hotline 106 will continue to operate during Yom Kippur and will be available to residents for reporting threats, unusual events and cases requiring municipal treatment. The municipality also reminds that on the eve of Yom Kippur, no scrap, cuttings or junk may be taken out into the public space. Residents are asked to adhere to the instructions for safety and hygiene.
