From the Mayor's Desk

09/03/2023

In 1993, the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin laid the cornerstone for the establishment of a new city in Modi'in. There is no doubt that even in his most optimistic vision, Rabin did not imagine that within 20 years this ambitious project would become one of the most successful and prosperous cities in the State of Israel.

The city, which joined with the nearby communities of Maccabim and Reut, boasts 100,000 residents, about half of whom are under the age of 18. The city is considered one of Israel's largest and most ambitious projects in the municipal sector.
The city of the future continues to develop at a dizzying pace, including hundreds of educational institutions, green parks, shopping and entertainment centers.
It is located right in the center of the State of Israel, between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, alongside transportation arteries such as Highway 431, Highway 6, Route 443, the Modiin-Tel Aviv railway line and Ben-Gurion Airport.
Modi'in Maccabim Reut's master plan includes a quarter of a million residents with an area of 50,000 dunams within 20 years from now, when the city will become the fourth largest in Israel. For the sake of comparison, the area of Tel Aviv, the second largest in terms of area, is 46,000 dunams.
Having completed the initial infrastructure of the city’s early years, we continue to develop the employment, commercial and entertainment areas along with communal construction and social frameworks for the city's residents.
Modiin Maccabim Reut has become a symbol of quality of life, excellence in education and a green city that promises to be the leading city in Israel and the flagship of local government within just a few years.

Yours faithfully,
Haim Bibas
