Fighting mosquitos

Work has begun to prevent the presence of mosquitoes in neighborhoods and public spaces, in light of the upcoming summer season and the beginning of mosquito season, especially against the Asian tiger mosquito which can transmit diseases to humans.

This summer nuisance is recurring all over the country and the SFA Division is preparing to prevent and reduce the presence of mosquitoes, with an emphasis on places that are near water sources.
For example, in places near educational institutions, construction sites and of course, canals and reservoirs, frequent scans and monitoring of water receptors are carried out.

The SFA department clarifies that it is important that residents also take part in the private areas of their homes and thus help reduce the presence of mosquitoes in very simple ways: pruning back growth of plants and shrubs and which can serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
Despite all the measures taken, it is of course not possible to completely prevent the presence of mosquitoes during the summer, so the municipality recommends protecting against bites by wearing long clothes, installing nets on windows, using fans and applying mosquito repellants.
In any case of locating a water hotspot and pest hazard, it must be reported to the 106 municipal hotline, which operates 24 hours a day.
