Community Resilience

27/02/2024 י"ח אדר תשפ"ד

A new community resilience program was launched at a city conference, the first of its kind in Israel. The conference was attended by more than 160 people - staff of 5th-8th grades, instructors, and parents' leadership representatives from all the city schools.

The program, led by community security, the director of education, the Ministry of Education and the city’s parent leadership, aims to strengthen the resilience of youth, parents and the community through educational content and various activities, especially in these days of instability.

It was exciting to see the commitment of all the schools in the city: elementary and high schools, state and religious, to participate in the program with 5th to 8th grade pupils.

During the conference, a moving lecture was given by residents of the city who revealed their personal life stories, as a couple and as a family, with crises and the strengthening of personal resilience.

After that, the teams gathered at round tables under the guidance of the school's counselors where creative thinking was done on the issues of community resilience, what exactly community resilience is - the ability of the community to take deliberate action and react effectively even when the routine is unstable.

There were discussions about a city project for schools to be presented to the public during May, in which representatives of students and parents will make presentations, open to all city residents.
