This year the city of Modi'in Maccabim Reut will mark the 76th Independence Day of the State of Israel in a modest and limited format, in respect for the complex period and the public mindset in the State of Israel at this time.
Mayor Haim Bibas directed the relevant professional bodies in the municipality to prepare a reduced program of events on the eve of Independence Day, including performances by local youth bands and singing and dancing shows, but this year, without performances by well-known artists and singers.
The events will take place at the Hula Amphi-Park, Anaba Park, the Lev Reut Center and the Ulpana Amphitheater.
The mayor noted that "the events of 7th October and the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip and in the north, the unimaginable number of victims, the number of wounded and 134 hostages, who are at this very moment in Hamas captivity, brought me to the decision that this year we must celebrate the events of Independence Day with humility. No fireworks and no celebrity artist shows like past years, instead - a combination of artists and youth from our city. "
In addition, the mayor instructed to prepare a program for Memorial Day events with respect to the Iron Swords War, and in memory of fallen residents and those who were murdered in the October 7th attacks. Events will take place in the week between Holocaust Day and Memorial Day.
