Many residents have enlisted for reserve service in the Yehuda Battalion, which will guard the city. The battalion is part of the new David Division, which is being established as part of the lessons of the war, and its role will be to respond to any security scenario.
About a week ago, a meeting was held between Lt. Col. Eran Rozmarin, commander of the Yehuda Battalion 1875 in the David Division, and Mayor Haim Bibas, City Manager Yoram Carmon, and Head of the Security Administration in the Municipality, Shmulik Cohen.
As part of the meeting, it was agreed that the battalion will work closely with the Security Administration in the Municipality, to significantly strengthen security circles in the city with joint forces that will provide an ongoing security response, as well as a rapid and professional emergency response in various scenarios.
During the meeting, the battalion commander presented the purpose and activities of the division. The division was established in response to the lessons of October 7 and the understanding that there are many more challenges ahead, and the need to strengthen security in the communities being critical.
The division's role will be to respond to emergency outbreaks, that is, security incidents that occur in the immediate time frame in localities.
The division consists of brigades and battalions that include combat reservists, commanders and officers from combat formations, who have been exempted from reserve service (non-medical) or who have passed the age for reserve service and wish to return to service.
The city of Modi'in Maccabim Re'ut will be the central area of the Yehuda Battalion, which provides a security response to the city and nearby localities. Thus, city residents will be prioritized for recruitment, with a formation training exercise to be carried out at the beginning of 2025, and the battalion's fighters will be equipped with weapons and equipment so that they are prepared and ready for any scenario of a breakout in the locality and the region.
The battalion will work in times of emergency in full coordination with the Municipality's Security Administration and will constitute another significant layer in securing the city. This will constitute a significant and important addition to the technological means deployed at the fence and serving as the municipality's focal point, the military force located on the seam line, the standby squads, the security patrols and the municipal police.
In the initial advertisement for recruitment of reserve servicemen and women who are residents of the city, more than 200 volunteers from the city joined the unit. Undoubtedly, an impressive figure, and a new campaign to recruit additional city residents will soon be launched. An information conference on the division's activities will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 19:30 at Irone Alef High School, 9 Dam HaMaccabim. For information and registration
Mayor Haim Bibas: "The municipality is committed to doing as much as possible to strengthen the security circles of the city's residents, especially in these complex times. The cooperation with the "Yehuda" Battalion will allow us to deepen the sense of security in the city and create a professional and rapid emergency response system for possible scenarios. I welcome the impressive commitment of the city's residents to this important project, which constitutes another layer in our municipal readiness for any situation."
Col. (Res.) Eran Rozmarin: "Volunteers are the spearhead of the Israeli spirit - people who choose to enlist, contribute, and lead. "Together, we will establish a strong, united battalion with extraordinary capabilities, which will protect the country and lead with professionalism and determination in the Modi’in area. The strength of the battalion is measured not only by the weapons it carries, but by the people who serve in it."
