05/06/2025 ט' סיון תשפ"ה

The eve of Lag BaOmer this year will fall on Thursday, May 15the. As part of the municipality's preparation, it was decided by the municipality, as a precaution due to the weather and in light of the recent fire incidents, to reduce the day for lighting bonfires to only one day, Thursday, May 15.

The municipality emphasized that lighting bonfires will be allowed, as long as no directive prohibiting it is issued by the Fire and Rescue Commissioner for the holiday and in accordance with the weather.

It will be permitted to light bonfires in the open area approved by the
Municipality's Security and Emergency Administration:
The area parallel to Emek HaEla Street (on the north side) from Yehuda HaMaccabi Road to HaYaar Street.

An open area parallel to Emek HaEla Street (on the north side) from HaYaar Street to the "Hadera Paper" complex.

The Municipality's Security Administration emphasized that only in this designated area will bonfires be allowed, and that increased enforcement will be in place to prevent the establishment of bonfires throughout the city, which is prohibited by municipal bylaw.

In addition, in cases of congestion that may endanger participants at the site, additional bonfires will be prevented from being lit there. The instructions of the Fire and Rescue Service must be observed and adhered to with extreme caution.

It is recommended to coordinate the lighting of bonfires in the approved area in advance, at the municipal hotline 106.

As in every year, a joint call is issued to celebrate the holiday in an alternative way without bonfires, led by council member Idan Hemi, who holds the Education portfolio, and the chairman of the municipal parents' leadership, Eyal Cohen. There are community and school initiatives aimed at protecting the environment, or alternatively, holding bonfires in one area only, significantly reducing hazards and environmental damage.
