The municipality calls on residents to review and refresh their emergency preparedness – calmly and responsibly. Mayor Haim Bibas: "We are prepared for any scenario, and you are not alone."
In light of regional tensions and recent security incidents, Modi'in Maccabim Re'ut municipality calls on residents to refresh their emergency preparedness – not out of pressure or anxiety, but in a responsible, calm and efficient way.
As part of the comprehensive municipal preparedness throughout the year, and especially since the outbreak of the "Iron Swords" war, the municipality is constantly working to strengthen our environment. One of the core (and accessible) tools is the emergency instructions booklet, which was written in collaboration with the Home Front Command, and is available to every resident, in English and Hebrew.
Everything you need to know – in one place
The booklet, produced during the first months of the war, summarizes in a simple and clear way everything the city’s residents need to know in order to be prepared: what to do when missiles are fired? How to prepare for water and electricity outages? How to make a home emergency kit? And how to protect children – both physically and emotionally?
In addition to the practical instructions, the booklet also includes important links such as joining neighborhood WhatsApp updates, downloading the Home Front Command app, emergency numbers, and instructions for action in the event of an alert.
The booklet also addresses scenarios of earthquakes, terrorist infiltration, how to act while traveling, or on public transportation, and preparations to be taken by apartment building committees.
Mayor Haim Bibas: "The war that broke out in October 2023 created a new security reality. The local authority's responsibility has intensified, and we continue to strengthen security with emergency response units, municipal security, technologies at the system's perimeter, and community and emotional preparedness. I call on every family in the city to review the instructions again, prepare equipment in advance, and maintain contact with official information channels. Modi'in Maccabim Re'ut is a strong, prepared, and responsible city. Preparation begins at home and ends with peace of mind for all of us."
This is how to prepare - both at home and at work
Among the main instructions in the booklet:
Confirm the location of protected spaces, in advance.
Do not wait for an emergency to check where you will go. A protected space can be a protected shelter, protected interior room or interior stairwell (according to Home Front Command guidelines).
Keep a stock of water and hygiene products.
4 liters of water per person per day, for three days. In addition – wipes, bags, disposable utensils and toilet paper.
Be prepared for a power outage.
A recommended emergency kit: flashlight, radio with batteries, portable charger, dry food and personal equipment for children. Especially important – necessary medications.
Maintain calm in the home
The booklet includes an entire chapter dedicated to dealing with children by age – how to calm them down, how to talk, how to maintain a routine, and what roles to give to strengthen a sense of control.
