Concluding training of Search & Rescue Unit

16/06/2025 כ' סיון תשפ"ה

The municipal Search and Rescue unit conducted a summary training for the series of trainings that took place last month, simulating a scenario of the destruction of a building and the rescue of many trapped people trapped under the rubble.

Shortly before the outbreak of the war with Iran, on Wednesday, June 11, an additional training session was held for volunteers of the municipal Search and Rescue unit. During the exercise, the volunteers simulated missile firing scenarios, managing shelters, treating casualties, and the functioning of the municipal hotline under pressure. The drill (which was, as mentioned, "on dry land") showed that the municipality's emergency unit is prepared, practiced, and most importantly - committed to maintaining the safety and well-being of residents.

Mayor Haim Bibas: "I am proud of the rescue unit teams for their determination, professionalism and open hearts to benefit our residents. The city of Modi'in Maccabim Re'ut's readiness for emergencies is not a slogan - it is a daily way of operating."

In the training, which was the concluding exercise in a series of training sessions that took place last month, the unit's volunteers practiced an emergency scenario of a building collapsing as a result of a missile strike from Yemen, with many people trapped in the building that needed to be rescued. The unit's veteran team commanders - Yoni Kasuker and Guy Sefer - practiced teamwork, decision-making in the field and the use of advanced equipment and various rescue means that the unit has.

Dozens of volunteers from the unit participated in the training series, to maintain competence and readiness for any emergency scenario that may occur in the city.

Shmulik Cohen, head of the Security and Emergency Administration at the municipality, added: "We have great appreciation for all the volunteer city residents who take an important part in the ongoing activities, come to training with high motivation and a willingness to help and contribute while making a difficult physical effort, all so that we can be prepared for the city's residents."
