Preparation for IDF recruitment

Hundreds of eleventh grade students participated in a preparation course for the initial IDF call-up. The course is comprised of six sessions and many more students from all schools are expected to participate in the coming months.

The Youth Department in the Society, Youth and Young People's Division at the municipality is successfully concluding the opening of the municipal course for preparing for “Tsav Rishon”.

Hundreds of eleventh grade students from the city's schools are already participating in the course, which includes six practical sessions with preparation experts, designed to optimally prepare them for the tests at the recruitment office, and to ensure that each and every one of them can reach their full personal potential on the way to meaningful service.

Each course includes six sessions and is intended for high school students in the city whose first order is approaching. Four classes of students are opened at each session, who take an active part in exercises and simulations that simulate the experience of the Tsav Rishon. So far, hundreds of students from the various schools have participated in these courses and many more students from all schools are expected to participate in the near future, according to the call-up date.

The initiative was born from the understanding that service in the IDF constitutes a central and formative milestone in the path of every young person in Israel – a moment of transition from adolescence to adulthood, combining responsibility, coping, values and resilience. Tsav Rishon is the gateway to the military world, and to a large extent it defines the possibilities that will open up later: courses, command, officership and a quality service.

As part of the course, participants experience technical exercises, simulations of tests and personal interviews, alongside strengthening mental and emotional skills. The instructors provide tools for time and stress management, learning strategies and in-depth familiarity with the structure of the test day. Each student undergoes a personal interview to analyze results and provide personalized tips, and the professional team accompanies the participants throughout the entire process.

Alongside the training, the Youth Department this year also initiated a significant move to involve parents in the process. A dedicated group was opened for parents, where updates, tips and information on the selection stages are provided, along with the opportunity for questions and advice. The move is designed to make the experience shared and inclusive, and to support boys and girls at this significant moment.

The course is still in progress, with several additional meetings expected to take place in the coming weeks. Students who are interested in joining can still do so through the Youth Department at the municipality or through the IDF service preparation coordinator at the schools.
