Students at Ofek and Shivtei Israel schools are learning how to protect the environment while encouraging entrepreneurship and research with products that are expected to be presented at the end of the month.

Ofek and Shivtei Israel schools are at the peak of a unique program for environmental entrepreneurship in the public space and for the common good. This is a municipal program led by the Quality and Environmental Planning Department in the Municipality's Environmental Protection Department, following which a call for applications was published.

The goal of the program is to strengthen among students the sense of belonging and responsibility towards the environment, along with entrepreneurship and the adoption of sustainable habits in everyday life. The program consists of a series of experiential, project-based meetings that encourage environmental activism in the public space. During the meetings, students learn about types of environmental hazards, the ecosystem and the diversity of Israeli species, case studies of successes in the environmental field, and homework and research assignments.

At the end of the program, which is expected to be at the end of December, each group will present at a concluding conference the product of advocacy for improving the public space in the environmental context, and how it can be preserved.

The municipality stated that in 2026, 28 kindergartens from across the city are expected to be integrated into a similar environmental education program.
