Dedication for Lt. Col. Dolev Kedar z''l

22/10/2026 י"א חשון תשפ"ז

This Friday, 23rd October, a city path will be dedicated in memory of the late Lt. Col. Dolev Kedar, a city resident who fell in battle during Operation Tzuk Eitan, as part of the municipal commemoration project that dedicates public spaces to commemorate the IDF fallen.

On 23.10.26 at 10am the dedication ceremony will take place near 1 Dan Street, with the participation of his family, friends, municipal representatives and residents. The public is invited to attend and pay tribute to his memory.

The late Dolev Kedar was born on October 26, 1976 in Kfar Saba, the son of Drorit and Eli and brother of Rotem and Yogev. Already in his childhood, he stood out for his wisdom, his unique sense of humor, and his many talents.

Dolev was Michal's husband and the father of Maya, Uri, and Guy. Alongside his demanding military career, he was a devoted father involved in the lives of his children, and a beloved family man who held a central place in the lives of those close to him.

In March 1995, Dolev enlisted in the Givati Infantry Regiment and chose to continue his career service. During his service, he held a long line of command and staff positions, including commander of the Givati Battalion at Bahad 1 officers’ training base, Commander of the Rotem Battalion, Chief of Staff at the Deputy General Staff, and Operations Officer of the 80th Division.

On the morning of July 21, 2014, during Operation Tzuk Eitan a warning was received about the infiltration of terrorists from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory, in the area of Kibbutz Nir Am and Sderot. Dolev led the battalion's command group to deal with the threat to the lives of the residents. During the encounter, his vehicle was hit by anti-tank fire. Dolev got out of the vehicle and charged toward the terrorists. Dolev and three of the force members were killed in the battle. Their action thwarted a serious attack against civilians.

He was posthumously awarded the Southern Command (Aluf Pikud) Citation (Tzalash) for his leadership and initiative under fire.

The dedication of the path is taking place as part of the municipal commemoration project of Modi'in Maccabim Re'ut, in which public walkways throughout the city are named after residents who fell in the Israeli wars. The project is taking place in cooperation with the bereaved families, out of a desire to commemorate the fallen in the public space and pass on the story of their lives and legacy to future generations.

A QR code is integrated into each memorial stone at the site, allowing passersby to learn about the stories and lives of the fallen. In this way, these spaces become part of the daily lives of city's residents and allow future generations to learn about the people behind the names.
The public is invited.
